Birgitte Solem is an established working actor and writer with over 20 years of experience. She is driven by a belief in powerful storytelling and audience engagement. As co-founder of Hope and Hell Theatre, she starred in Disgraced (Mirvish Entertainment and The Citadel Theatre) and has toured renowned theatre at the national level, including the National Arts Centre, Blyth Festival, Drayton Entertainment, Magnus Theatre, and Theatre Pass Muraille. 

Birgitte’s film and TV work ranges from children’s cartoons to international blockbusters with a common theme of strength in vulnerability.

She has over 30 screen credits, including two seasons as a series regular on Malory Towers for CBBC. Most recently, she starred in the award-winning short film Motherland (TIFF Best Canadian Short Film, Aspen Shortsfest Best Drama, and TIFF Canada’s Top Ten Selection). She has also appeared in over 20 commercials, was the official voice of Volvo Canada, and is having her first full-length play produced at the Blyth Festival this summer.
